seeking a dedicated and compassionate Professional Staff Nurse to
join our PACU team! We are looking for a skilled nursing
professional who is committed to delivering exceptional pre? and
post?operative care to surgical patients in a fast?paced and
team?oriented environment. Four 10?hour shifts per week One year of
ICU or Intermediate Unit (IU) nursing experience is strongly
preferred for this role In this role, you will provide high?quality
nursing care throughout the surgical experience. Preoperatively ,
you will prepare patients by collecting vital signs, weight, blood
glucose levels, consents, and any necessary lab work.
Postoperatively , you will closely monitor patients as they recover
from anesthesia, ensuring they safely return to their baseline
status. This includes ongoing assessment of vital signs,
respiratory monitoring, and coordinating patient transfers to
inpatient units or preparing them for discharge once stable. Title
and salary will be determined based on education and experience. At

minimum rate of pay for a non?BSN Professional Staff Nurse is

RN?BSN/MSN options The Professional Staff Nurse is a Registered
Nurse who plays a vital role in delivering high-quality patient
care. This role requires strong clinical judgment, collaboration
with the interdisciplinary team, patient advocacy, and leadership
in managing and coordinating care to ensure optimal clinical

Assesses and interprets patient data to meet age-related care needs
per department policies. Has 0–2 years of experience; BSN
preferred. Builds positive, caring relationships with all levels of
staff, departments, and patients/families. Functions effectively in
complex environments with shifting priorities and specialized
equipment. Exhibits strong clinical judgment, critical thinking,
analytical, and problem-solving skills. Leads others in applying
the nursing process through critical thinking. Possesses mobility,
manual dexterity, and physical stamina for frequent patient
handling. UPMC offers flexible scheduling options, including
night/weekend shifts with premium pay. Special shift programs
require at least 6 months of nursing experience and may include
daytime orientation. Interested candidates should notify their
recruiter during the interview process. Licensure, Certifications,
and Clearances: Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary
Resuscitation (CPR) required based on AHA standards that include
both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days
of hire. Registered Nurse (RN) OR Temporary Practice Permit (TPP)
Graduate nurses must complete licensure examination within SIX
MONTHS of hire or within one year of graduation, whichever comes
first. Though temporary permits are valid for one year from the
date of graduation, not one year from issue of permit (or until the
results of the examination are known at which time it becomes null
and void), UPMC requires that GNs take the licensure examination
within 6 months of their start date or they will be terminated or
demoted from the GN position, at the discretion of the BU. UPMC
approved national certification preferred. *Current licensure
either in the state where the facility is located or, if the
facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure
Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a
participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an
out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the
state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon
changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
