Job Title Tooling Coordinator (non-manager) Reports To Plant
Manager Summary The purpose of this role is to acquire, improve,
and maintain all necessary shop tooling to produce inserts. It is
also to identify and execute opportunities for improvement in
quality and productivity as it relates to tooling. The tooling
coordinator is also responsible for ordering and maintaining the
appropriate supply of all needed grinding wheels. Duties and
Expectations The tooling coordinator has three main
responsibilities and expectations (all of equal importance) The
first is to make sure operators have all necessary tools and wheels
available, in good condition, and readily accessible so that set-up
times may be as short as possible. Set up time is defined as the
time between the last good insert from the previous job to the 1 st
good insert of the current job. This responsibility includes: Order
all replacement tools for all production areas Inspect incoming
tooling to ensure that it is to print and meets intended use Ensure
that tooling is correctly labeled, organized, and inventoried in
each production area Work with engineering to improve tooling where
possible and design new tooling as needed Keep records of repairs,
replacements, and maintenance for tooling Perform timely
preventative maintenance on tooling Utilize all available resources
internally and externally to economize tooling maintenance as much
as possible Be involved in review of new tool designs with an
expectation of quick tool change features Ensure that tooling is
designed and used to minimize cycle time; this includes ensuring
that all insert stations are used in multi-space tooling The second
expectation is that the tooling coordinator will identify jobs that
are run regularly and improve the way we do it for productivity.
This may include: Using new wheel technology to increase throughput
Finding ways to reduce scrap Better utilizing robot loading
Applying quick change tooling concepts Any improvement that yields
more pieces per hour The third responsibility is to be the manager
of grinding wheel inventory. This includes: Keep a running
inventory of all grinding wheels Become expert in where and how
different grinding wheels are used Order & stock replacement wheels
so that production is never out of a wheel that is needed Ensure
that company cash flow is not tied up in excess wheel inventory
Work with process engineer to reduce wheel expense through new
technologies, process improvement, and negotiation with vendors

8-hour shift Monday to Friday 4 days 8:00am-4:30pm and 1 day
10:00am-6:30pm Expected hours: 40 per week Salary: $32.00 - $35.00
